BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT IN THE DANCE STUDIO

Through practical dance activities and discussion, the day will look at strategies to motivate children and young people in all contexts, from Primary through to University settings, exploring ways to deal with provocations, conflict and strategies for responding to challenging behaviours.
This day is designed for Dance Artists and Teachers keen to explore best practise and the fundamentals of communictaion in a range of contexts and situations.

Want to know a little bit more about Helen Linsell and her fabulous practise?
After completing her training in Community Dance at Laban in 2001, Helen worked as a Community Dance Practitioner in a wide range of settings across London and the South East. Her roles have included Youth Dance Practitioner for South East National Dance Agency, Dance Development Officer for Crawley Borough Council and Education and Community Dance Practitioner for Laban.
In 2007, Helen joined Dance United as a Dance Artist, working at The Academy in Bradford with young offenders and disengaged young people. She became Academy Director in 2008 and co-directed the pilot projects for the establishment of both the Wessex and London Academies.
Helen has also directed independent projects in South Africa, Namibia and Jamaica as well as teaching for other organisations in Yorkshire including Yorkshire Dance, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Phoenix Dance Company.
Helen has completed the Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning, has delivered Behaviour Management training within a number of arts organisations and has published a chapter entitled ‘Behaviour Management and Communication in Practice’.
Helen is now Artistic Director of Dance United Yorkshire, working with a wide range of vulnerable, disengaged and challenging young people and communities across the region, whilst also studying an MA in Psychodynamic Approaches to Working with Adolescents.
