Dance in Schools: from HEAD to TOE and everything inbetween

In September 2021 we commenced on a two year research project, funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation, entitled from HEAD to TOE and everything inbetween. We are collaborating with 6 Primary Schools across Lancashire to explore the role of the creative moving body and dance in learning and retaining knowledge within literacy and maths at Key Stage 2.

The project is an exciting new avenue for Blue Moose Dance; taking the wealth of knowledge and experience we have of delviering dance in schools and exploring how this works in a new context and format, in a classroom setting, within a curriculum framework and for teachers to explore and embed in their own practice.

Sarah Hall and Sarah Gough are the Lead Artists in the project, working with teachers and support staff from St Josephs Primary School, Pilling St John’s Primary School, Chaucer Community Primary School, Stalmine Primary School and Nateby Primary School.

We will be sharing our progress via our News page and our social media but if you wish to discuss the project in more detail and how it may be able to support your school, get in touch!
